Welcome to Homeshare North East

Matching people to share their lives for mutual gain

What is Homeshare?

Homeshare is a shared living model that has been used nationally and internationally for a long time.

Householders are often older people, who have a spare room in their home and would benefit from companionship and low level practical support with day to day tasks.

At Homeshare North East, we match older people who have a spare room in their home and are seeking companionship and practical support (Householders) with people who are looking for affordable accommodation and can offer time, companionship and practical support (Homesharers). It's a simple, mutually beneficial arrangement that connects people to share their lives.

The support provided by the Homesharer centres around companionship as well as providing an overnight presence in the home for security and peace of mind, whilst also assisting with daily living tasks such as cooking and meal preparation, cleaning, shopping and gardening.

While Homesharers provide support with various tasks, they do not offer personal care. Homesharing is based around mutual support for both Householders and Homesharers. Homeshare North East supports each match, providing on-going monitoring and support for the duration of the match.

Every person and every match are unique. We embrace individuality by offering a personalised, face-to-face approach. We carefully consider the needs, personalities, and interests of both our Householders and Homesharers, ensuring each match is compatible and well suited to create lasting and fulfilling connections.

To ensure the safety and suitability of our matches, we conduct thorough security checks for all participants. This includes comprehensive reference checks and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks, allowing us to create a secure and trustworthy environment for both Householders and Homesharers. Your peace of mind is our top priority.
