We match older adults with a spare room (Householders) who would benefit from company and a little extra help at home, with carefully vetted individuals (Homesharers) seeking affordable accommodation. In return for a welcoming place to live, Homesharers provide companionship and low level practical support such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and gardening.

For older adults, Homeshare NE offers a trusted presence in the home, helping to ease loneliness and maintain independence. For families, it provides peace of mind knowing their loved one has companionship and day to day support, while younger individuals seeking affordable housing have the chance to live in a supportive home environment while making a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

Homeshare North East carefully matches participants, conducts DBS and reference checks, and provides ongoing support to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
